Forest Forge was founded in 1981 to create and tour theatre to rural and non-theatre spaces. The company’s reputation was built on our ability to turn up a village hall to present high-quality theatrical experiences for local people, building accessible opportunities for audiences to enjoy theatre close to home.
Today Touring Theatre remains a one of the key strands of Forest Forge’s work. Every year we create and tour entertaining, moving creative theatre experiences to rural venues, village halls and studio theatres. Our work celebrates the tradition of oral storytelling and is always flexible – renowned for its ability transfer from village halls to studio theatres to non-theatre spaces without any theatre infrastructure. Our tours also prioritise accessibility and enjoyment for audiences. Regardless of your background or experience you will always be warmly welcomed at a Forest Forge show!
Suitcase Stories is a new strand of small-scale theatre performances, launching in 2025. These new productions are our most flexible touring theatre productions, able to perform throughout the year at fetes, schools, festivals, libraries, care homes and other community spaces. Performances will last around 45 minutes and accompanying workshops are available.
Our annual Christmas production, created in partnership with Bumblefly Theatre and Mischievous Theatre, is a New Forest festive tradition. Available to tour to village halls, schools, studio theatres our Christmas production features live performance, music, puppetry and lots of laughter and is suitable for ages 5 – 105!
We have a number of tour touring productions and ideas in development. Please check back here for further details.
